As an ITT provider, MBITT has a comprehensive understanding of ITT content and the Teachers’ Standards, and experience designing content which meets the needs of ITT trainees, local secondary schools and ECTs.
We have a long history of providing SKE courses via grant funding and have continued this close collaboration now that DfE have moved over to a new commercial model. Despite the cost savings being made by DfE, our service levels remain extremely high. Our students experience and success on their SKE course is central to our motivation for being in the SKE market - we believe that students should get the best preparation before starting their teacher training courses and we believe without reservation that our students receive the best training.
Our collaboration brings with it a wide range of skills, knowledge and experience to ensure any content which gets delivered is best practice and meets the requirements of the national curriculum, ITT providers and applicable exam boards.
Our courses have been designed and written by experienced teachers who have all planned and delivered lessons in schools, meaning they possess a number of transferable skills and knowledge to draw on when designing content including:
- Academic qualifications including undergraduate degrees and post-graduate degrees in their subjects.
- Experience of developing well-structured lessons with clear learning aims and assessment methods, which is reflected within the courses they design for our service.
- Knowledge of the changing requirements for both the national curriculum and exam boards, which will be used to plan and amend courses appropriately.
- Expertise
Many of the teachers Eureka used to design course content have held various leadership positions within the school, further demonstrating the expertise drawn on, including:
- ITT coordinators who now write content for a range of topics including maths
- Heads of subjects, including biology
- Heads of years
- Subject specialists
- A former head teacher
Moreover, as practising teachers, many of our team undertake continued professional development (CPD) within the schools they work in, ensuring their own subject knowledge and skills for designing and delivering content remain up to date and in line with best practice.
Eureka’s course development lead and MBITT's management and executive committee, monitor examination board websites and resources, ensuring that courses are accurate and up to date. Where necessary we can draw from our experience as an ITT provider to offer insight into the useful design of new modules for the SKE course.
